As many of you will know, earlier in the year, we decided to extend access to VidiVet to ALL our clients (with the cost covered by us). As your chosen and trusted veterinary practice, we feel that it’s important that you have access to reliable advice when we are closed. To do this, VidiVet is our trusted partner. They are a key part of the puzzle, allowing us to bring the best to all pets and their owners.
VidiVet is an app that you can conveniently download to your smartphone. It provides you with INSTANT access to a UK-based vet, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is the first service of its kind in the UK, allowing you to ask your question immediately to a vet, not waiting for a consultation, as soon as you think of it; you ask it, there and then.
Our partner vets at VidiVet review your question and send you a personalised video response within a few moments. They can also review past questions you’ve asked in case there is something relevant mentioned previously, so the care you receive is comprehensive and consistent. The app stores all of your questions and the vet’s answers, so you never have to worry about forgetting any information provided to you.
Anything about your pet! If it’s important to you, then it’s important to them! Most commonly, the VidiVet team are asked questions about:
VidiVet works as a triage service. The VidiVet team are purely app-based. It is an interim service whilst we are closed, to help you decide if you need to see a vet and how urgently. The VidiVet team share the advice and concerns with us so that you receive complete continuity of care. Any ‘in-person’ consultations, treatments or should your pet require a prescription, will still be delivered by us, or our out-of-hours service provider, MediVet Dorchester.
VidiVet is in place to give anyone with a pet faster access to reliable veterinary advice.
They help you to:
Having VidiVet as a reliable resource when we are closed means that if you do need to make an emergency appointment or see a member of our team in the imminent future, you are informed, less stressed, and aware of the potential outcome. Equally, many pet owners have questions after attending a vet appointment – ever left a consultation thinking, “I wish I asked that”, or, “I didn’t think to ask that at the time”.
80% of our clients who have used VidiVet whilst we’re closed have had their query resolved without needing to visit an out-of-hours service, which can be a costly and time-consuming visit.
Anytime you have a concern about your pet when we are closed, and therefore you are not able to access our team. Our aim is to ensure that when our team, who know your pet best, are unavailable, you have a reliable resource you can trust. ‘Dr Google’, social media groups, and online forums, to name only a few as examples, are not regulated, and therefore their credibility is questionable depending on the source, and the advice is therefore not only unreliable, but also not tailored to your beloved pet.
VidiVet was created to mirror the speed and convenience of an internet search and combine it with the clinical expertise you and your pet deserve. The VidiVet team being friendly and helpful is simply the cherry on top of the cake!
One pet owner described VidiVet as:
‘It’s like having a new best mate who just happens to be a vet. ’
Think of VidiVet as ‘Dr Google’ and NHS111, lovingly created for your pets.
No! The cost is covered by us. It is one of the many benefits of being a client of Newton Clarke Veterinary Surgeons.
If you want access to this service as a pet owner and are not registered with us, the monthly subscription would total £107.88/year per pet owner!
To gain your complimentary access, visit the VidiVet page on our website.
From here, you can gain your complimentary access to:
The VidiVet app is available on smartphones, tablets and some of the latest Apple computers only. Your device will need to have a webcam and a microphone. You’ll also need to ensure that you have a good internet or data connection. Once you have the VidiVet app installed on your smartphone, if you travel abroad and have a pet question, you can ask away. The VidiVet vets are on hand 24/7, so regardless of your time zone, they can respond in moments.
As much information as you can, as this will ensure the most comprehensive answer for you.
Consider the following when asking your question:
If you are able to send a short video showing the issue, even better!
We hope that this covers the majority of what you may like to know as a pet owner when it comes to VidiVet. Please remember, in the event of an obvious life-threatening situation or emergency when we are closed, please take your pet to MediVet Dorchester, our chosen out-of-hours emergency service.
