Every veterinary practice is different, and we are proud of what we are able to offer our local pet-owning community. At Newton Clarke Veterinary Surgeons, we provide high-quality, compassionate veterinary care for pets across Sherborne and Yeovil. We also serve pet owners of other neighbouring veterinary practices who utilise some of our services. As an independent practice, our focus has always been on delivering exceptional clinical care while building lasting relationships with the pets and owners who trust us. Read on to discover the difference of Newton Clarke Veterinary Surgeons.
If you’re searching for a vet in Sherborne or Yeovil, we’d love to reintroduce ourselves. This is what makes Newton Clarke Veterinary Surgeons different.
We are an independently owned practice. We sit uniquely amongst a sea of corporates and are now the only independent practice in the area.
This means we manage our practice ourselves, without requiring authorisation from a Head Office. This allows us to change quickly in response to feedback from both pet owners and team members alike. The people that you meet day to day, who treat and care for your pets, are the people responsible for making the decisions that keep our practice running smoothly and progressing. The decisions that we make are to improve pet care, owner experience and team wellbeing; they are not based on directions from Shareholders to achieve financial targets and goals. We reinvest in your pets’ care, in our facilities, in our equipment and extensively in team training.
Veterinary medicine is ever-evolving. We have purposely invested in state-of-the-art facilities to ensure pets in our local community have access to the very best care.
Our practice is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology. This includes a state-of-the-art CT scanner, allowing our team to investigate complex conditions with greater accuracy and speed. An earlier and more precise diagnosis means we can develop more effective treatment plans and improve long-term outcomes for pets.
We also offer laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, a minimally invasive surgical technique that can provide significant benefits for pets, including smaller incisions, less discomfort, and faster recovery times compared to traditional surgery.
By combining modern equipment with experienced clinicians, we’re able to deliver advanced veterinary care locally.
For more complex medical or surgical cases, we work with a trusted team of visiting veterinary specialists who hold advanced qualifications in their fields. This means many pets can receive specialist-level diagnostics and treatment right here at our practice. No need to travel to a distant referral hospital. For pets, this means being treated in familiar surroundings where they feel comfortable. This also improves continuity of care and accessibility for you. For owners, it removes the stress and inconvenience of long journeys and multiple veterinary providers. By bringing specialist expertise into our practice, we are able to offer a truly comprehensive service. It often makes Newton Clarke a “one stop shop” for veterinary care in the Sherborne and Yeovil area.
The heart of Newton Clarke Veterinary Surgeons is our dedicated team.
Every member of our practice is passionate about delivering exceptional care to the pets we treat. Many of our vets and nurses have achieved additional qualifications and advanced training, allowing us to provide enhanced expertise across a wide range of clinical areas.
We are also proud to be a training practice. As part of our ongoing commitment to student development, our students may be involved in the care of your animals under the guidance and direction of our qualified veterinary team. Of course, we always respect the right of owners to withdraw consent for students’ involvement at any time.
Finally, alongside our qualifications, we ensure we deliver on the basics – the little things are often the most important. We take the time to listen to our pet owners and understand how important your pet is to you. We work closely with you to ensure you feel informed and confident in every decision about your pet’s health.
Questions about your pet don’t always arise during normal opening hours. That’s why we provide all our pet owners with complimentary access to VidiVet, a trusted UK-based veterinary video consultation service.
Through the VidiVet app, you can send videos, photos or questions directly to a qualified vet and receive timely professional advice when our practice is closed. Whether you’re unsure about a symptom, want reassurance, or need guidance on whether your pet should be seen urgently, VidiVet provides expert support whenever you need it.
It’s just one of the ways we aim to provide ongoing care and peace of mind for pet owners across Sherborne and Yeovil. This also provides continuity of care, as any queries you raise are shared with our team so we can pick up where they left off.
Preventive healthcare is one of the most important ways to protect your pet’s long-term health.
Our plan has been designed to make preventative care both simple and affordable. It helps owners spread the cost of essential treatments across the year.
A key benefit of the plan is unlimited consultations, allowing you to bring your pet in whenever you have concerns without worrying about additional consultation fees.
Alongside consultations, the plan covers routine preventative treatments (flea, tick and worming medications) and regular health checks, helping us detect potential issues earlier and keep your pet happy and healthy for longer. Pets are individually risk assessed, so they are not treated unnecessarily, and medications are even delivered to your door for free, each quarter. For many owners, it’s the most cost-effective way to ensure their pet receives consistent preventative care.
Newton Clarke Veterinary Surgeons has long been part of the local community. We care for pets from across Sherborne & Yeovil, building trusted relationships with owners that often last for the lifetime of their pets, making all the difference when it comes to your furry family members.
As veterinary professionals, we believe our duty extends beyond companion pets. It also includes how we operate as a business, and how we can protect our wider environment and the animals that live within it. To us, caring for animals extends beyond the consultation room. Our practice has achieved a Silver accreditation from Investors in the Environment. It incorporates sustainable approaches such as responsible medication use, environmentally conscious parasite control, and energy-efficient clinical practices. Alongside this, our team supports local biodiversity through wildlife-friendly planting and waste-reduction initiatives. It’s important that we help protect the wider environment that animals rely on. If you are looking for an independent practice to entrust your pets’ care, we would love to welcome you to our NCVS family. You can conveniently register your pet here.
