Peter Luscombe

Veterinary Surgeon

BVSc, PgC SAD, MRCVS RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Dermatology

I trained at Liverpool University, graduating with honours in 1990.

After qualifying I joined a small mixed practice in Gloucestershire, throwing myself into the “all creatures great and small” lifestyle of a vet, dealing with large animals as well as domestic pets. This gave me a good grounding in coping with whatever was thrown at me.

In 1992 I moved to Yeovil continuing as a mixed vet for another 10 years, but for the last 20 years I have focused on our domestic pets. I have enjoyed living and working in Yeovil and have had the opportunity to pursue an interest and attend further courses in small animal medicine, while not neglecting my surgical skills.
In recent years I have developed an interest in skin problems in animals, undertaking further training and gaining my general practitioner certificate in dermatology in 2019 and after further studies to consolidate and extend my skills, gained my post-graduate certificate in small animal dermatology in early 2021. I was recognised as an Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Dermatology by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2022.

I have always considered it a privilege to be a veterinary surgeon, and it has certainly been my dream job. I also consider it a responsibility to help my patients and their owners to the best of my ability, to make a personalised treatment plan, especially when making difficult decisions.

I was delighted to join the team at the Newton Clarke Practice in 2018, bringing over 30 years of local knowledge and experience with me. I still look forward to meeting old and new clients and looking after their pets.
