Emily Whitby

Veterinary Surgeon

BVetMed MRCVS

I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in June 2020 and walked straight into the weird world of COVID consulting! I then spent a year working in a very busy small animal practice in Hertfordshire before being coaxed into countryside life and joined Newton Clarke Vets in August 2021.

I really enjoy internal medicine – I like the challenge of working through complex cases and the satisfaction that comes with getting to the bottom of them (eventually!). Therefore, I have have recently working towards a Certificate in Small Animal Medicine – PGCertSAM

I also have a particular love for all things cats and hence a keen interest in feline medicine and surgery as well.

I grew up in Hertfordshire surrounded by an animal-obsessed family! Outside of work, I enjoy looking after my ever-growing collection of houseplants and love to travel and explore wherever and whenever I can.

I feel very privileged to be a vet, and so lucky to have a job that has me excited to get out of bed every morning! Every day holds something different, and you really do learn something new every day.

I have three cats that I adore – Freddie, Lila and Evie. They’re full of personality, have a lot of attitude, and absolutely no manners!

I also have a crested gecko called Groot – she spends lots of her time upside down and is most often asleep!
