Emergency Out of Hours Provision: Updated

We are continuously assessing and enhancing the service we offer to both you and your pets,  ensuring that the standards you have come to expect are continually improved upon. This has prompted us to review our emergency care outside of normal hours and we have recognised that our own on-call service has become outdated.

Emergencies never occur at a convenient time. It can be even more distressing if this occurs when our surgeries are closed. In light of this and after much thought and consideration, we have made the decision to partner with Medivet 24 Hour Dorchester. They are now responsible for all of our emergency out-of-hours work. They provide advice and treatment to you and your pets outside of our working hours on both evenings and weekends. This emergency centre has designated night vets and nurses who are experienced in emergency medicine, surgery and critical care. Your pets can now have the same minute-by-minute care they receive during the day, overnight by a specialised team that is on-site, all night.

As of July 1st 2021, emergency telephone calls which are received after the surgeries have closed will be answered by Medivet 24 Hour Dorchester. They will be happy to offer advice or to examine and treat emergencies at their fully-equipped hospital as appropriate.

We confidently believe that this partnership will enhance the emergency care provided overnight. It will also improve our service during the day. We will now be open 7 days a week with late-night surgery in Yeovil on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8pm.

Should you wish to discuss any aspect of this new service please feel free to contact us either by email or telephone. If you have an emergency when the surgery is closed, please call 01305 262913

Kind regards,
Matt and all of the team at Newton Clarke Vets.
